Letter from Bishop-Elect Guernsey

To the Saints of Christ Church Anglican

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord!

I write to offer my heartiest congratulations on your first anniversary as a congregation. Your faithfulness in proclaiming the Gospel is a powerful testimony to committed and creative lay leadership. You have stepped out boldly and pioneered a new model of ministry, which is beginning to be replicated across North America. Just last week, as I spent time with orthodox leaders in Canada, I shared about your experience and the fruit of your labors. They were blessed to hear how the Lord was working through you and they were greatly encouraged to press ahead with lay-led church planting in their own communities.

I thank the Lord for the godly leaders whom you have raised up. I am praying for you as you seek the priest whom God is calling to serve as rector and join in the dynamic and outreaching work you have launched in Butte. I know that our Lord Jesus Christ will guide you and make His will known.

Thank you for your generous support of the Anglican Communion Network. You have persevered through difficult times in the emerging new alignment of biblical Anglicanism in America, but we are now seeing the pace increase and important milestones are on the horizon. Please continue to pray for Bishop Duncan, particularly as he leads the first-ever Common Cause Council of Bishops meeting in September.

And I would ask you to pray for me, as well, as I prepare for my new role in support of you and the other Church of Uganda parishes in the U.S. We’re in this together!

Faithfully yours in Christ,

John A. M. Guernsey

Bishop-Elect, Church of Uganda
